CASE STUDY OR AGRICULTURAL FIRM TO VISIT

We are currently routing to visit a couple of firms namely
1. ROSEBUD UGANDA with whom we are in close online contact about when to pay the visit, their website is http://www.rosebudlimited.com/ . this company is part of the RUPARELIA GROUP of COMPANIES. Based in Entebbe, Uganda, Rosebud Ltd is the country's largest exporter of roses, commanding around 40% of Uganda's raised export market. The green houses on the farm cover a total of 50 hectares producing and exporting over 12 million stems per month. These stems, due to the favourable weather conditions experienced throughout the year, result in their all being of the same high standard. Rosebud Ltd solely specializes in the production of quality cut roses for export onto the world market.
The greenhouses are irrigated by a modern, automated water-pumping unit, which feeds our fully computerized hydroponics systems. The following two categories of roses are produced: Sweetheart Roses; Valentino (dark red), Viva (bright yellow), Chelsea (orange), Red Calypso (bright red), Meera (champagne), Akito (white), Blushing Akito (pink), Raspberry King (dark red), Jambo (bright red) and Intermediate Roses; Ace Pink (pink), Bella Rose (pink), Sunny Star (yellow), Furiosa (dark red), Tropical Amazone (orange), Banjo (pink), Labelle (peach), Sorraya (yellow), Athena (white).

2.WAGAGAI LIMITED UGANDA , which we are also keeping close contaxct with.
Wagagai Ltd. is a flower farm located six kilometers off Entebbe on Kampala road on a peninsula in Lake Victoria. The company was founded in 1998. Wagagai is fully owned by Dutch investors. The farm started of as a rose farm, exporting roses to the Netherlands. Soon after, the farm also diversified into propagation of chrysanthemum cuttings. Currently 9 hectares of greenhouses are in chrysanthemum production, from which app. 260 million cuttings are exported exclusively to Holland.
In 2005 the final decision was made that is was not in the best interest of Wagagai to continue growing roses. That's when Selecta Klemm came into the picture. Soon semi-commercial trials took off, whose outcome looked very promising to all parties. Consequently Selecta Klemm and Wagagai Ltd. agreed a joint venture production to supply Selecta Klemm markets world wide, starting from the end of 2006 onwards.
