Welcome to AUTOMATED GREEN HOUSE SYSTEM Blog. This Project is by Software Engineering members of GROUP-66 Year 4 2015, Makerere University. Automated greenhouse system is an embedded system that will provide control of greenhouse climate or environment conditions such as temperature, light, irrigation and humidity from a single computer and reduce labor required in greenhouse maintenance.
this week we have been asked to add on the scope of our project, so i suggested to my group members that we add another aspect on top of the auto lighting that enables to ACs to turn on automatically when the temperatures rise and we still discussing how we will implement it before we add it in our concept paper.
this week ive tried to research about how the circuitry of the board is set up. i need to get a detailed understanding of how things like the photo resistor are connected to the board. this includes how much voltage they use among others
This week on Tuesday we met up with our project supervisor Lect Odong & he suggested we add some logic on to the project & am still thinking of how best I can bring out the concept he suggested bt I cant seem to get to it.
Either way he promised to think of something and get back to us.
Today we happened to have our project proposal completed and submitted to the project supervisor so dat he can give his opinion ahead of the deadline on Friday.
Now its seems the project changed course . Given the meeting we had wit the project supervisor, he suggested we change the concept and focus on managing a green house bt using the same idea. It still seems rather more interesting compared to de previous idea given the research I've carried abt green houses. So now the new system will be on controlling de conditions in a green house like temperature control, irrigation, among others using an automated system.
Proposal approved, SRS done. i feel a load off my shoulders, that we managed to finish the required deliverables in time but i know its just the beggining and we gotta work harder.
we gatered our requirements from NFA, well from my experience there, it helped understand how exactly plants respond to environmental changes and since the project about automatically controlling the conditions in a green house. its not just about programming but u gotta have a clear idea about the concept. and i can say that my journey to NFA wasnt a waste of time. though during the holiday i would love to travel to kawanda research centre too.
During this break I've tried to research on hw to make de GUI for the Arduino board, and I think it wont be as hard as I had imagined, I jst need the equipment now to try it out practically .
Now on to the design doc, context, data flow & all the necessary diagrams all finished. Jst need to schedule a meeting with the project supervisor to check it out.
Change of supervisor at this time. On the otha hand its like there is no change at all because I've had the privilege of being taught by both lecturers en I think they re both great personalities.
I have jst finished the System Architecture ( chapter 3) of the design document with the design decomposition. Now left with the Circuit diagram & the requirements matrix to finalize the design document. Guess i will be done with it in the next couple of days.
Guys on the interfaces that is Payne and Micheal, We re strictly Using MS Visual Studio 2013 strictly. So plz fo uniformity dnt use other versions like 2010 and on...... I have the software and it works better. U can all get it from me.
On system implementation, I have designed and modeled the structure of the test greenhouse with all components, the shades and the cooling component all demonstrated on the greenhouse.
Finally am making the necessary changes on the documentation as suggested by the panel & that will be all as regards the project. Until the release of version 2.
Further more on System implementation, I also came with the idea & the code that converts the data transmitted overall the serial interface bck to the original values that were written to the serial interface. This is because when data z written to the serial interface, it is converted to values that the serial interface can transmit hence the need to convert it back to its original format after reading it from the serial interface.

ReplyDeleteAnd I happened to realize that its not as hard as I had imagined.
DeleteMost components use very low volts ard 1.5volts.

i think we need to specify the crops grown in the proposal and the case study or company we are going to research
ReplyDeletei have also changed the project name to AUTOMATED GREENHOUSE SYSTEM, any queries should be forwarded to me
ReplyDeletehaaa the our supervisor is so rare now days

ReplyDeleteRepair the DEsign Document
ReplyDeleteYes bt plz mail me the previous docs. That is the SRS and the proposal
DeleteAnd Micheal please have our project registered for the ACIA awards before the end of this week .
ReplyDeleteDesign doc Almost complete, shd b ready for submission this week.
ReplyDeleteBut guys I insist lets have our project registered for ACIA, we may snatch something out of there.
ReplyDeleteI am going to register for ACIA this weekend sir
ReplyDeleteTHE DESIGN DOCUMENT IS READY TO BE REFINED BY YOU

ReplyDeleteIve just finished making the necessary changes to the Design Document as suggested by the Project Supervisor. Am now moving straight on to the REPORT.
ReplyDeleteSo every one please lets move faster, Payne and Micheal on the interfaces then Me and Paul on the Embedded code.
ReplyDeleteRemember i cant report what we have not implemented yet. So guys i need a practically working system.
ReplyDeleteGuys on the interfaces that is Payne and Micheal, We re strictly Using MS Visual Studio 2013 strictly. So plz fo uniformity dnt use other versions like 2010 and on...... I have the software and it works better. U can all get it from me.
ReplyDeleteIve jst finished chapter 2 of the Project report. I hope I can finish it all in time & focus on my part of the implementation.
ReplyDeleteIve just fully finished version 1 of the project report, u guys can look through it before we present it to the supervisor for inspection
ReplyDeleteOn system implementation, I have designed and modeled the structure of the test greenhouse with all components, the shades and the cooling component all demonstrated on the greenhouse.
ReplyDeleteI also wrote the embedded code that reads from the sensors and displays the read values on the LCD.

ReplyDeleteThis feels like 10 years ago. i cant believe how time flies so fast...
